Halle is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Illinois- Springfield. She brings an eclectic theory base and holistic person-centered approach to Trisha Johnson Therapy Group. Halle is passionate about helping individuals heal, grow, and ultimately achieves self-sufficiency in their mental health journeys and recognizes the individuals unique lived experience and tailors her therapeutic approach to each client.
Before joining Trisha Johnson Therapy Group, Halle was an Adjunct Professor at Aurora University teaching psychology classes to undergraduate students. Halle’s clinical experience includes working as a counselor at the University of Illinois- Springfield, where she provided mental health counseling as well as provided psychoeducation to college students. Also, she has experience working in addiction rehabilitation and was a counselor providing therapy and support at Gateway Rehabilitation Center.
Halle earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sports Psychology from Mckendree University where she was also a collegiate basketball player on a full scholarship. Along with being a student-athlete she also held office and was a part of numerous academic honor societies during her collegiate career. From her experiences, she brings leadership, flexibility, and a multicultural perspective to her practice. Her background in sports has also allowed her to work with diverse populations and have enriching experiences such as coaching, volunteering with Americorps, and working with the Special Olympics.
Halle enjoys working with adolescents 14+ through older adulthood, but truly enjoys working with young to middle aged adults. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjustment disorders, life transitions, communication and social skills, racial identity, self-esteem, and athletes. Halle is varied in her therapeutic modalities depending on the client, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Person-Centered Therapy, as well as many other approaches. In addition, she finds that the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful tool and does her best to make sure every client is comfortable, active, and feeling safe while finding their own power and responsibility in their healing journey.
Outside of being a clinician, Halle enjoys staying active and spending time with her family. Also, she considers herself a lifelong learner and is an avid reader. Other fun hobbies for her are exploring creative outlets such as music and art, and giving back to her community through teaching and coaching.
